With all the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations going on, we had one citizen who made sure that the underprivileged got a ‘taste’ of the holy God too! Rintu Kalyani Rathod, who runs a bakery named Rini Bakes – Bake My Dreams in Mumbai made a 35-kg Ganesha with pure chocolate. The Ganesha will be immersed in milk as visarjan and will be served to the underprivileged kids out there.

She shared her accomplishment and its intentions on her Facebook page:

My ancestors migrated from Pakistan post-Partition in 1947. My grandfather pursued his law career in Bombay (yes cause that’s what it was called then.) and became very successful. His brothers too thrived as builders and restaurateurs.
My papa was born in Pakistan. This makes me and my brothers first generation “Indians” or “maharastrians.” Both are just words as far as I’m concerned.
I have struggled very hard to be where I am today, I pay my taxes (fuckloads of them) and see my tax monies do nothing for me. I keep quiet most of the time because I think it’s pointless to talk politics and unnecessarily aggravate myself for no results. People say “they are uneducated ..let them be..” but if that is true then what do “the educated” do?? remain silent and let this happen???
Today, I am ashamed as a human of this world to see what is happening in my(for lack of a better word) country. My prime minister is silent when he needs to fucking speak up. I am ashamed of our behavior.
Mera Muh Kala (my face is black) cuz I come from these parts and have been silent. I am aware of the consequences of this post. I am aware that it might bring damage to me or my salon. But it is time to speak up. ..

Hey everybody, I know it’s been a while (again!) but this time I have a legitimate excuse! My trusted Macbook Pro is at the Maple service center getting Eternal Sunshin-ed. Apparently TOO many memories for even technology to handle! So I’m typing this on a Lenovo and lets just say it feels like 2005 again hahaha (sorry, I’m turning into one of those Apple snobs.) Anyway, the point of this blog was to get cracking on my letter to Santa. I’m told he gets a lot of email and I figured if I throw this out into the universe before all the kids get started I might have a better chance of him noticing! So here you go, since my last wish list was made in 2009 I figured an update was in order! Here are the 5 things I’m hoping make it into my arms this holiday season, come on Karma do your thing! And by Karma I mean husband *nudge nudge wink wink* 

1. OMG, Is That a PINK iPhone?!

I must have it. It’s an iPhone 6s AND it’s pink. COME ON! If that doesn’t have MissMalini written all over it then I don’t know what does! (Apparently they’re launching it in India at midnight on the 15th of October so…. *are you reading Nowshie?*) I know I’m a pink girl, so I’d deffy pick the rose gold, but what’s your metal? 3. Ink.

I think its time for another tattoo (or two). I’ve been toying with it for years wondering if I’ll still believe the message I get permanently blazed into my skin years from now (always think before you ink!). But I think I say both of these things enough now that it’s going to be, at the very least, a reminder of my legacy. That and because it’s true: “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” Thank you Moulin Rouge for those epic words of wisdom, I use them often and I believe them with all my heart. Also as I vlogged I would, “to the moon!” with some stars :)

Now I don’t think this one actually exists but there’s plenty of time for someone to invent one by Christmas! Very, very sad news from Paris. At least 120 people have been killed and over 200 injured in a series of shootings and explosions around several locations in Paris. The attackers are still not known – no group has claimed responsibility – but according to the French police, they are all believed to be dead. What is heartening to see, though, is how everyone has rallied together during this difficult time. Twitter is filled with messages of people opening their doors to those who might need shelter (check the hashtag #PorteOuverte) and Facebook has created a tool to let people know you’re safe. And in Paris, the lights in the Eiffel tower have been switched off as a sign of mourning and a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus lit up in the colours of the French Flag to show India’s solidarity with the victims of dreadful Paris attacks that occurred a few days ago. A spokesperson from the Indian Railways stated that:

The world stands with Paris at this moment. Since the 26/11 attacks were of a similar nature and the CST station was also targeted then, the Central Railways has decided to stand by France in this moment of grief and express its support. The CST station will be illuminated with the French flag from between 7 pm and 11 pm.

Though the gesture was remarkable, the CST got the colours wrong. A lot of countries lit up their iconic buildings in the colours of the French Flag convey that France is not alone in this fight.
